A rural Staples man was arrested for alleged drug sales after a search warrant was issued March 15.

Todd County Sheriff Don Asmus reported that agents of the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force (CMVOTF), West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force (WCMDVCTF) and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) along with members of the Todd County Sheriff's Office, Staples Police Department and Wadena County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a residence and auto body business located at 49823 285th Avenue in the Township of Villard, Todd County.

Angel Obidio Calix, 52, of rural Staples was arrested on a criminal complaint issued by the Todd County Attorney's Office for four counts of first-degree sale of a controlled substance. He is being held at the Todd County Detention Center pending his first court appearance. A second criminal complaint is expected to be filed by the Wadena County Attorney's Office for first-degree sale of a controlled substance, the sheriff's office reported.

This search warrant was executed in connection to an active investigation being conducted by the CMVOTF, WCMDVCTF and BCA in the sales of methamphetamine in the Staples area. The CMVOTF, WCMDVCTF and BCA were assisted in this investigation by the Todd County Sheriff's Office, Staples Police Department and Wadena County Sheriff's Office.
