Roger Duane Lease, 72, of Wadena, passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
He was born to Henry and Blenda Lease on Dec. 13, 1934, in Minneapolis. He served for four years in the Army until his discharge in 1964. After leaving the service, he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle and then returned to this area where he worked as a carpenter. He spent the past 15 years in this area before moving to Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. He loved nature, being out in the country and having a special relationship with animals -- especially cats. His cats loved being with him.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 17, in the Johnson Memorial Home --
Verndale Chapel with the Rev. Michael Kellogg officiating. Burial will take place in the Nyskoga Cemetery near Alvardo, Minn. Arrangements were with Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).
Survivors include his sisters, Karen of Australia, Margaret of Maine, Diane of Texas, Mary of Warroad, Joyce (Bud) Holt of East Bethel; brothers, Ken of Verndale, Robert (Esrelle) of New Hope, David (Vernice) of Baldwin, Wis., Darrel (Beverly) of Colorado; former sister-in-law Pauline of Verndale and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Richard and Larry.
