- The new year brought the following changes to our district:
Please welcome Dana Pavek, our communications coordinator, when you have the opportunity to visit the district office. Though Dana is not new to the Wadena community, she is a new addition to District 2155. One of the four Wadena-Deer Creek District goals determined for this academic year is to improve communications among all stakeholders and Dana is definitely stepping up to the challenge! We are very pleased to have her join our education community.
- Newly elected board members Steve Techam, Dan Toedter, and Peter Hayes took their oath of office for four-year terms on Jan. 12 at the annual school board organizational meeting. Other business included election of officers. Ann Pate was voted in as the new chairperson; John Moenkedick, vice chair; Steve Techam, clerk; and Wayne Perkins, treasurer. The regular monthly meetings will remain the third Monday of each month, 5 p.m., at the district office until May when the dates and times will be revisited.
- At the organizational meeting, the 2009 official depositories were named as the First National Bank of Wadena and the Wadena State Bank. The Minnesota Liquid Asset School District Investment Fund will be used for aid certificates and investments. Also, the Wadena Pioneer Journal was named as the official school publication; and, the new board members froze their compensation rates for 2009. Annual board committee assignments were discussed and filled. This year the three main working committees will be personnel negotiations (Pate, Perkins, Techam), finance (Toedter, Moenkedick, Hayes), and policy revision (Moenkedick, Hayes, and Toedter). The Freshwater Representative and Governmental Relations Representative positions were filled by Wayne Perkins and Steve Techam. Ann Pate will be the WDC Foundation representative.
This will certainly be a busy year for our school board and the education community!
