Rally propels Shockers over DL

The Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers came up with five runs in the bottom of the eighth Saturday as they posted a 7-2 victory over Detroit Lakes on the Deer Creek diamond.

The Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers came up with five runs in the bottom of the eighth Saturday as they posted a 7-2 victory over Detroit Lakes on the Deer Creek diamond.

The Angels tied the game at 2-all in the top of the eighth. The two clubs played scoreless ball for the first four frames.

Jeremy Erickson paced the Shockers with three hits and one RBI. Jayme George and Jamie Nordlund came up with two hits and one RBI apiece. The Shockers out-hit the Angels 10-4 and had runners in scoring position in every inning.

Jordan Wohlwend went the first eight innings for the Shockers before giving way to Travis George. Wohlwend struck out 10 in gaining the victory. George fanned the side in the ninth.

Max Saarinen homered for the Angels and collected two hits.

The Angels were guilty of five errors in the loss.

The victory gave the Shockers a 3-0 record overall and a 2-0 record in league play.

The Shockers will host the Bemidji Mudcats at 7 p.m. Saturday in Wadena before traveling to Dent Sunday for a 1:30 p.m. game.
