Phyllis Elaine Iverson, 80, formerly of Deer Creek, passed away early Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at the Knute-Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.
She was born June 14, 1927, in Deer Creek Township, the sixth child of 10 born to Peter and Sarah (Anderson) Harthan. She graduated from Deer Creek High School with the class of 1946. On Dec. 28, 1947, she married Ervin L. Iverson in Henning. She was baptized and confirmed in 1948 at Elmo Lutheran Church in Elmo Township. They farmed side-by-side in Elmo Township for many years. Ervin passed away in 2001 and she moved into Parkers Prairie in 2004. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie and belonged to First Lutheran WELCA and was also active on several other church committees.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, some of her other activities included gardening, baking (especially cooking delicious dinners for any visiting guests,) going on bike rides and watching the birds at her feeders. She was so appreciative of the dear friends who would drive her around. She was a kind and loving mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with the Rev. Kenneth Bowman officiating. Interment is at the Elmo Lutheran Cemetery with active casket bearers being her seven grandsons, Derek, Scott, Cody, Wade and Brock Iverson, Evan and Ryan Oakeson. Honorary casketbearers were her eight granddaughters, Tracie Coopet, Nicole Bernd, Sarah Stephan, Elisha, Cassie, Kayla, Samantha and Nancy Iverson. Lind Family Funeral Service, Parkers Prairie, was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters, Fonda (Ken) Noe of Parkers Prairie, Jo Marie (Steven) Oakeson of Evansville, Wis.; sons, Terry (Rebecca) Iverson, Gale (Rebecca) Iverson and Gregory (Joyce) Iverson, all of Parkers Prairie; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Doris Cook of Clarissa, Patricia Truax of Hibbing and Beverly (Abe) Blevins of St. Charles, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin; brothers, Maurice, Kenneth, Melvin and Gordon Harthan; sisters, Margaret Lee and Lois Hoyt.
