Someplace Safe hosts chili fundraiser Oct. 13
Someplace Safe will host a chili fundraiser at St. Ann's Catholic Church Friday, Oct. 13 from 5-7 p.m. The dinner will include chili, dinner rolls, desserts and beverages. Freewill donations are accepted and takeout is available. Proceeds will benefit Someplace Safe.

Historical Society annual meeting slated for Oct. 19
The Wadena County Historical Society will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Firehouse Bar and Grille in Wadena. After the business meeting, members and friends are invited to share stories about their families and why they came to Wadena County. Dinner may be purchased from the Firehouse.

"Picturing the Good Life" photo contest gearing up
"Picturing the Good Life" is the theme of a new photo contest that will soon be accepting photographs and short videos of the Wadena area. This collection of images will be used for promoting our region to others. Complete contest guidelines will be available as well as a site where photos and videos can be uploaded. One of the best photo opportunities of the year is here right now and it should not be missed. Everyone is encouraged to begin getting your shots even before the contest is fully posted. You will have until April 30, 2018, to take and send in your video and photos.
While images from previous years will also be accepted, we don't want to miss the chance for photos from this Fall. There will be cash awards ranging from $25 to $100 for best images accepted for the collection. Watch for the formal announcement and website address which should be available in a few weeks.
"Picturing the Good Life" is a project of the Wadena Area Chamber of Commerce which recently received a grant from Region 5 Branding Project, funded by the National Joint Powers Alliance. WDC to hold public meetings about upcoming referendum
WDC is slated to hold public meetings in Bluffton, Deer Creek and Wadena about the school's upcoming referendum so they can make an informed decision when voting on Nov. 7. WDC's Superintendent Lee Westrum will be giving the presentations at these meetings.
