WALKER, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol released the names of those involved in a crash Thursday, July 21, when a Cass County deputy struck a bicyclist with a squad car.
Barbara Eller Gartner, a 63-year-old from Iowa City, Iowa, suffered non-life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Deputy Ryan James Huston, 35, of Akeley.
The crash report stated Huston was traveling north on 6th Lake Road in Shingobee Township near Walker while two people on bicycles were traveling east on the Heartland State Trail. The bicyclists failed to stop and entered the lane of traffic as the deputy entered the intersection.
