Crash kills north-central Minnesota woman and horse

BRAINERD, Minn. — A 33-year-old Crow Wing County woman died Monday, June 13, after she was struck by a pickup while walking a horse.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office responded to the personal injury crash, reported at 6:56 p.m. in Long Lake Township, southeast of Brainerd. According to the report, the woman was walking a horse on the shoulder of Thompson Road when an eastbound pickup truck struck the woman and the horse.

The woman and horse were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman's identity was not released Tuesday morning.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as a 44-year-old Brainerd man.

The sheriff’s office was on scene until almost midnight Monday.

The crash is currently under investigation by the sheriff's office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
