CASS LAKE, Minn. — A 20-year-old Cass Lake man died Saturday, May 7, after he lost control of his ATV and hit a tree on Migizi Bike Trail in Cass County.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash, reported at 9:32 p.m., in Pike Bay Township, east of Cass Lake. According to the news release, a 2020 Polaris Sportsman ATV was traveling on the trail when the operator lost control while traveling around a curve in the trail, causing the ATV to veer off the trail and strike a tree.
The driver of the ATV was found to have several serious injuries. The male was transported by ambulance to the Cass Lake Indian Health Services Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that speed does appear to be a factor in this crash and the investigation is ongoing.
