Mildred Maxine (Dorow) Clasen, 88, of Deer Creek, died peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.

She was born in Parker, S.D. on Sept. 20, 1920, the daughter of Gust and Emma (Mielke) Dorow. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She grew up near Parker, attended grades 1-8 at a rural school there, and completed her high school education in Sioux Falls, S.D., graduating in 1938. Following high school she attended Nettleton Business College and worked for an insurance company in Sioux Falls. She married Robert Hermann in 1941 and they moved to Ottertail in 1942. They had two children, Bette and Ronald. She later married Raynold Clasen in 1956. They operated a dairy farm in Leaf Lake Township of Otter Tail County until 1973 when they moved to a farm in rural Deer Creek. They retired to a home in the city of Deer Creek in 1989 and she resided there. Raynold died in 1990. She remained in her home in Deer Creek until her death.

Throughout her life, she was dedicated to her faith and church, participating as a member of the Ladies Aid Society of St. John's, Ottertail and Trinity Lutheran of Deer Creek where she was a member. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, gardening and quilting, but she especially looked forward to family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek with the Rev. Gunard Heikkila officiating. Casket bearers were Richard Dorow, Randy Dorow, Dale Wiirre, Joel Brever, Dan Menze and Mike Menze. Interment is in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Ottertail. The Belmont Funeral Home in Henning was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Bette (Delvin) Menze, Ottertail; son, Ronald (Karen) Hermann, Ottertail; a brother, Oscar Dorow, Pinellas Park, Fla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and a brother, Herbert Dorow.
