Seven people were scheduled to appear in court Monday on federal charges for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
The charges are the result of alleged involvement in a large scale methamphetamine and marijuana distribution organization, according to a Todd County Sheriffs Office news release. During a traffic stop March 2, law enforcement found marijuana, meth and handguns. Information from those arrests led to the issuance of additional search warrants and more arrests in the few days following the initial traffic stop. Todd County Sheriffs Office, Wadena Police Department, Wadena County Sheriffs Office, Becker County Sheriffs Office, Hubbard County Sheriffs Office, White Earth Tribal Police and other federal law enforcement agencies were involved in the investigation.
The following are charged: Leonard Joseph Smith of Ponsford, Glen Forehand of Detroit Lakes, Jeremy Leroy Berndt of Hewitt, Michael Benjamin Goodman of Ponsford, Kevin Michael Camacho of Pine River, Anthony James Richard Jantz of Hewitt and Christopher Joseph Tigges of Wadena.
