Mercedies Margaret Ament, 71, of Wadena, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga.
She was born to her parents Matt and Elizabeth (Saari) Kunnari on May 3, 1916, in Gilbert, Minn. On July 9, 1935, she married John George Ament. She spent the past 56 years in Wadena. For many years she worked as a seamstress for Homecrest Industries. Mercedies enjoyed being with her family, gardening, sewing and watching the Minnesota Twins.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 17, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena with the Rev. Donald Wagner as celebrant. Honorary pallbearers were all of the grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Kevin Ament, Craig Melhorn, Molly Lee, Dwight Line, Ed Fazekas, Sarah Ament, Bonnie Kirby, Todd Owens and Adam Ament. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery following the services. The Johnson Memorial Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Ed) Fazekas of Mt. Home, Ark., Etta (Paul) Vaseckas of Coon Rapids, Ruth Ament-Owens of St. Louis Park, Mary Ann (Dwight) Line of Wadena, Sharon (Dave) Brockob of Akeley, Linda Ament of Blaine; sons, John (Melva) of Wadena, Ken (Jane) of Ottertail, Matt of Wadena, Dan (Debbie) of Perham, Rick (Karen) of Park Rapids; 31 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Matucci of Buhl and Marion Thompson of Alexandria; brothers, Howard (Maxine) of Bloomington and Don (Lorraine) of Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, on May 2, 1993; daughters, Jane and Margaret; brothers, Ed, Ray and Jack; sisters, Eleanor, Bernice and Adele.
