A Menahga man was charged in Wadena County District Court with fifth-degree assault.
On Oct. 30 shortly after 1 a.m., Wadena police were called to an apartment complex where a man had allegedly assaulted a woman by kicking her in the shin. The man, Jared Ray Halonen, 21, was later found hiding in a nearby wooded area.
Charges were filed Nov. 1, and a court hearing was set for Nov. 16. Halonen has a previous conviction for terroristic threats from Aug. 31, 2010.
