A Wadena man faces misdemeanor charges for events on the night Wadena Police Officer Pete Resch died of a heart attack.
Terry Jean Russell, 20, Wadena, awaits a settlement conference Tuesday and then a jury trial is tentatively set for March 29 and 30.
The charges are domestic assault, obstructing legal process and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors, according to court reports.
Resch, 47, died of a heart attack while responding to a domestic abuse call on May 19, 2005. When he and police officer Jon Cline responded to the incident, they reportedly wrestled with Russell because he refused to leave with officers, according to court reports. Resch and Cline eventually handcuffed Russell and began to walk him out of the building, according to court reports.
Then, Resch had trouble breathing and collapsed. It was later determined he died of a heart attack.

Russell is charged with domestic assault for allegedly assaulting a woman, charged with obstructing legal process for resisting arrest and interfering with a peace officer and charged with disorderly conduct for engaging in offensive, abusive or noisy behavior, according to court reports.
Wadena County Chief Deputy Steve Young said he is charged only with crimes relating to events that occurred before Reschs death. Russell is not charged with anything relating directly to Reschs death, he said.
