WADENA — If you've forgotten you live in Minnesota, winter has not. The area's winter storm warning is continuing through 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22 for Wadena, East Otter Tail, Becker and Hubbard counties.
With 1 to 3 more inches expected throughout the day along with winds as high as 25 mph, the National Weather Service notes to plan for slippery roads. The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office lifted the no travel advisory. The Sheriff's Office advises motorists to use caution while on the roads as there is still blowing snow and drifting in some areas.
The cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. The low wind chill temperatures will continue through Wednesday with highs in the single digits for the rest of the week.
If you need to travel, make sure to have an emergency supply kit in your car and drive with your headlights on. Local law personnel also encourage plowing your driveway and keeping hydrants clear to help with response times to emergency calls.
