WADENA — Candidates for county offices, soil and water supervisors, city council, school board, state and federal offices may file from May 17, 2022 until May 31, 2022 at 5 p.m.
Here's who has filed as of Tuesday, May 24, in Wadena County:
Commissioners
Dist. 1: No candidates. This seat is currently filled by Sheldon Monson. Monson is running for House District 5B.
Dist. 3: Bill Stearns
Dist. 4: Murlyn Kreklau
Dist. 5: Jon Kangas
The Dist. 2 seat is the only one not up for election due to redistricting and is filled by Mike Weyer.

Auditor/Treasurer
Incumbent Heather Olson filed May 17. She is the only one to file so far.
Recorder
Tracy Myers Borchert has filed to fill the seat of outgoing recorder Soledad Hendrickson, who is retiring. Borchert is a Wadena resident.

Sheriff
There are three candidates for county sheriff. Mike Carr Jr., who has been sheriff for 15 years in Wadena County filed on May 18. Challenger Jason Hofer also filed on May 18. And Milo Scott filed on Tuesday, May 24. Carr is a Verndale resident. Hofer is from rural Menahga and Scott is a Wadena Police Officer.
Attorney
County Attorney Kyra Ladd is the only filer for her seat so far. She's been the county attorney since 2006.

Soil and Water supervisors
There are seats open for districts 1, 2, and 3 and no filers so far.
Senate District 5
The Aug. 9 primary election will be hot in Senate District 5, where two Republicans and one Democrat have filed for the Senate District 5 seat, which includes 16 Becker County townships, as well Wadena, Todd and parts of Hubbard county.
Incumbent Republican Sen. Paul Utke will face off against endorsed Republican candidate Bret Bussman. On the DFL side, A. John Peters has joined the running.
House of Representatives
In House District 5A, which includes part of Becker, Wadena, and Hubbard county, Republican Krista Knudsen is the only candidate to file so far.

House 5B, covering Wadena, Sebeka, Long Prairie, east of Pillager and parts in between includes a race between filers Sheldon Monson and Mike Wiener.
