PERHAM — A man and woman were transported to Perham Health following a single-boat crash near the Rush Lake public access on July 3, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.

Roukos Jacobs, 44, of Plymouth, Minn., and Rosie Jacobs, 30, of Minneapolis, were both injured when the steering column on their fishing boat broke, which caused it to make an abrupt change in direction while under operation, according to the news release. Rosie Jacobs was ejected, but was able to make it back onto the boat to help steer it back to shore.

When deputies arrived, they found that Roukos Jacobs had suffered a compound ankle fracture during the incident and Rosie suffered possible broken ribs. Neither had been wearing a life jacket.

The sheriff's office also reported that no other boats were struck during the incident.
