Make plans to attend a Wadena County caucus

While the Wadena County DFL party has one location in Wadena, the Republicans have several locations planned for 7 p.m. on Feb. 1.

WADENA — Wadena County DFL and Republican Caucus locations have been set to start at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1.
This is an opportunity to participate in grassroots party platform discussions and to elect delegates to county and senate district conventions.

DFL caucus

All Wadena County precincts will meet at Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School Commons. Registration opens at 6:30 p.m., caucus starts at 7 p.m.
Masks are required and each must show proof of vaccination or recent negative test result upon entry.
Interested persons unable to attend can submit a Non Attendee Form found at dfl.org/caucus.
These changes to the DFL Party’s caucus systems were approved by a recent meeting of the DFL Party’s State Executive Committee.
Chair Jim Davis noted that “in most circumstances, there are enough delegate slots available to ensure everyone in a precinct who runs to be a delegate gets elected.”

Republican caucus

Precinct caucuses for the Republican Party of Wadena County will be held at the following locations:
Sebeka High School media center: This is for residents in Lyons, Meadow, North Germany, Orton, Red Eye, Rockwood, Blueberry, Huntersville and Shell City townships as well as the cities of Nimrod, Sebeka, and Menahga.
Verndale High School library: Aldrich, Bullard, Thomastown and Wing River townships as well as the cities of Aldrich, Staples (in Wadena County) and Verndale.
Wadena Pizza Ranch: Leaf River and Wadena townships and the city of Wadena- Precinct 1-3.
No specific COVID-19 protocols were listed for this caucus.
