Lakewood to offer dementia caregiver support group

The group is designed to provide emotional, education and social support for those who care for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

STAPLES — Lakewood Health System, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, is offering a support group for caregivers of those with loved ones diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

The group will meet the first Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon in the Burlington Room, located through Door C at Lakewood’s Senior Campus at 401 Prairie Ave. NE. The first meeting will take place Wednesday, June 1.

The group is designed to provide emotional, education and social support for those who care for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Participants will develop coping methods and encouragement to help maintain their person, and their physical and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Masks are required to be worn during the meeting to align with Lakewood’s current masking policy.
