Playing in the home of the Minnesota Orchestra is a once-in-a lifetime experience for some of even the most accomplished musicians.
Wadena-Deer Creek senior Johanna Brunsberg was able to attain that experience when she joined nearly 100 other high school musicians in the All-State Symphonic Band that performed at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis on Saturday, Feb. 19.
"All-State Symphonic Band was a wonderful experience!" Brunsberg said. "There were 99 kids (including myself) playing. It’s not every day that I get the opportunity to play with such accomplished musicians."
According to WDC Band Director Lisa Weniger, the All-State Ensemble reprised their performances for the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic. The All-State musicians arrived on Friday morning and started rehearsals shortly after lunch and rehearsed until about 7:30 p.m.
They had one final run through on Saturday morning before moving into Orchestra Hall for their Grand Finale performance for parents, friends and music educators.

"Performing in Orchestra Hall is the highlight of being in MMEA All-State," Weniger said. "Being able to perform on the same stage as other world renowned performers and in a venue that has the best acoustics, is quite memorable."
"Overall, my favorite part of the event was the mature and full sound of my band," Brunsberg added. "The musical experience was incredible!"
