Lawrence Albin Christiansen, 96, died April 17, 2006, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
He was born to Charles and Annie (Johnson) Christiansen on Aug. 2, 1909, in Eagle Bend. He spent most of his life in the Bertha and Wadena area. He worked for some time in Illinois as a painter before returning to rural Bertha to farm. Lawrence was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He also enjoyed woodworking, card clubs and church activities. He married Evelyn Johnson on Feb. 4, 1934, in Belvidere, Ill. She died on Sept. 11, 1984, at their home in Bertha. He married Florence Lehman on Nov. 16, 1985, in the Chapel of the Flowers in Eagle Bend. They made their home in Wadena before moving into Humphrey Manor.
His funeral will be Friday Funeral services will be held on Friday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend with the Rev. Cordell and Mary Carol Strug officiating. Casketbearers will be John Christiansen, Melvin Christiansen, Jim Fransen, Wally Wiese, Arnold Kneisl and Roselyn Arvidson. Burial will be in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in rural Eagle Bend with Johnson Memorial Home of Wadena in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Florence of Wadena; one daughter, Cheryl (Clair) Mattson of Blaine; stepson Larry (Kaia) Lehman of Kenyon; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn; his parents; and his brothers Elmer, Guy and Leonard.
