Wolverine Matt Kramer found his groove on the golf course last week to stroke the Wadena-Deer Creek boys golf team to a strong showing in two key meets.
The Wolverines finished second in the Mid-Minnesota Conference meet on May 18 at the Bears Den in Park Rapids. Kramer was medalist with a 35 to lead the Wolverines followed by Brennen Truax with 40; Jon Taves, 42; Dylan Carlisle, 44; Andrew Browne, 45 and Michael Schmidt, 47.
Staples-Motley won the meet by eight shots over the Wolverines as Brad Quast finished one stroke behind Kramer with 36 to pace the Cardinals.
Staples-Motley finished in first place in the overall team standings with 101.5 points with the Wolverines runners-up with 72.5. Park Rapids came in third with 69.5 and Menahga/Sebeka fourth with 24.5.
Kramer continued to find the green on Friday at the Mid-State Conference meet at the Vintage in Staples. Kramer was two-over par for 74 to share the medalist honors with Mike Brodsho of Detroit Lakes. The placing allowed Kramer to earn all-conference honors in Mid-State.

The Wolverines finished fourth in the meet with 343, just two strokes behind third place Park Rapids and one stroke ahead of Pequot Lakes.
Traux carded 83; Taves, 88; Browne, 98; Brandon Kramer, 108 and Tyler Truax, 114 to round out the scoring for the Wolverines.
At the WDC Co-ed Invitational on Saturday, the Wolverines finished fourth as both Kramer and Taves shot 82 to lead the team. Truax finished with 89; Browne, 97; Brandon Kramer, 106 and Brian Silbers, 109 as the Wolverines turned in a score of 350.
Detroit Lakes won the boys title with 320 and was led by co-medalist Ben Burquists 74.
