Judith Ann Finstad Payne, 60, died March 19, 2006, at the Abilene, Texas, Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
She was born as a twin of Ronald O. Finstad on March 31, 1945, to Lorraine Mildred and Owen Edgar Finstad in Mountain Lake. She was baptized at Bethany Lutheran church at Bergen and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Windom in 1960. She was inducted into the National Honor Society while in Windom High School, from where she graduated in 1963. She graduated from the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester in 1966. She enjoyed a long life of serving others at numerous hospitals as a registered nurse, serving as the director of nursing at several facilities. This career ended while she was working as a staff nurse at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center. She married Ronald T. Payne on Dec. 30, 1978, in Smithville, Texas, bringing into the union two boys, Scott K. Nash and Shane K. Nash. He brought three children, Kevin T. Payne, Shawn R. Schneider and Mya M. Roberson.
Memorial services were conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps League Auxiliary on March 24 at Netherton Funeral Home in Texas. The Rev. Barry ONeil officiated.
Survivors include her mother, Lorraine (Finstad) Tuffs of Perham; two brothers, Travis Edgar of Plymouth and Ron Owen of Wilton, Wis.; one sister, Marsha Humphreys of Rapid City, S.D.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Larry Odell.
