Josephine E. Hanson, 94, died March 11, 2006, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena.

She was born Dec. 13, 1911, to Stuart and Emma (Johnson) Wambolt of rural Wadena. In younger years, she was active in 4-H, winning several trips to the state fair. She was also involved in Homemakers. She married Harold A. Hanson on June 21, 1935, in the Methodist Church in Wadena. She stayed active in the church throughout her life, teaching Sunday School and Bible School. She belonged to United Methodist Women Circle and U.M.C. She also belonged to Alanon and helped many dealing with the problems of alcoholism. She helped her husband establish Hansons Plumbing and Heating in 1935. After her husband died Sept. 7, 1981, she sold their home and moved to Humphrey Manor. She enjoyed participating in Humphrey Manor activities and visited family in Washington and California. She enjoyed telling stories about her youth.

Her funeral is at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Wadena United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Hager and the Rev. John Fair officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (March 15) at the Bielema Family Funeral Home in Wadena. Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery with the Bielema Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Collette (David) Hagemann; one son, Nolan H. (Kathi); one sister, Beatrice; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Elijah and Elven Wambolt; and sisters, Altora Kludas and Vernice Edwards.
