Alicia Johnson hit her second round-tripper in two days Friday as Verndale topped Parkers Prairie 4-1 in a Park Region Conference showdown.

Johnson jacked a two-run shot for the Pirates and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Nicole Bart struck out seven while scattering eight hits.

The victory gave the Pirates a 14-3 record overall and improved their conference mark to 10-2.

A solo shot by Alicia Johnson in the bottom of the seventh accounted for the only run the Pirates scored off Steph Cichy in Game 1 of a doubleheader Thursday in Verndale.

Both pitchers surrendered only two hits. Bart struck out 11 and did not walk a batter in taking the loss. The Eagles scored solo runs in the fifth and seventh off four Verndale errors.

The Pirates snapped back from a tough 2-1 loss in the opener to gain a with Bryan Dunrud's Eagles in Thursday's doubleheader.

Alicia Johnson came up with Verndale's lone run off winner Steph Cichy when she homered.

Nicole Bart fanned seven and weathered 10 Mills hits in the nightcap. Rae Anna Salo, Nicole Neobosis and Kim Becker all went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Bart helped herself with a two-run single. The Pirates also got a two-run single from Crystal Haskin. Faith Kern scored twice.

Alicia Johnson drove in the winning run with a sixth-inning double Tuesday at the Pirates nipped the Bears in a Park Region Conference showdown.

"This was a great high school softball game that came down to the end," said Verndale skipper Tim Seaton.

Verndale ace Nicole Bart gave up only three hits while fanning 10 batters. Jessica Finck surrendered just five hits in the loss.

Elizabeth Johnson scored twice and had three stolen bases. Crystal Haskin also had an RBI for the Pirates.
