A spelling bee was held last week at Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary School for third- through sixth-graders.
Winners were:
- Third grade: Ellie Miron
- Fourth grade: Logan Taggart
- Fifth grade: Logan Schmitz
- Sixth grade: Jennifer Craig
Craig will advance to the Lakes Area Spelling Bee at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd on Friday, Feb. 13.
Other winners in the annual bee at WDC were:
- Third grade: second place, Ryan Grendahl; third place, Kirstan Finn
- Fourth grade: second place, Kayla Peters; third place, Amanda Orsello
- Fifth grade: second place, Kendra Evans; third place, Olivia Schwartz
- Sixth grade: second place, Aaron Anderson; third place, Hadley Boline, Sutton Lohmiller, Carrie Nelson, Kayla Hanson, Sam Bernstetter, Kaitlin Warren, Anissa Mensch and Elise Kallevig
The 2009 WDC Spelling Bee was coordinated by volunteer parent Gail Goeden.
