Isabelle Eleanor (Budig) Heltemes, 85, passed away Feb. 25, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena. She had been a resident at the Elders Home in New York Mills, and formerly lived at Humphrey Manor in Wadena.
She was born to Willibald and Louisa (Schwartz) Budig on Nov. 4, 1923, in Wadena. She married Walter Herman Heltemes on Aug. 23, 1943, in Wadena. As a member of the community for more than 75 years, she will be remembered as an employee at Homecrest and Ben Franklin. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Lady Foresters and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and crafts.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, Feb. 28 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with the Rev. Donald Wagner as celebrant. Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Heltemes and Noah Minkler. Active pallbearers were Shawn Simmons, Brian Simmons, Chad Heltemes, Calvin Cooley, Jason Cooley, Brent Cooley, and Daniel Heltemes. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).
Survivors include her devoted husband, Walter; sons, Garrett (Judy) of Roseville, Dale (Kathleen) of Andover, Mark (Lisa) of Vail, Ariz., and Cahil (Michelle) of Otsego; daughters, Shirley Simmons of St. Louis Park, and Karin (John) Cooley of New York Mills; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert (Donna) Budig of Owatonna, Minn., and Norbert (Geraldine) of Morris; and sister, Ruth (Dennis) Boehland of Rockford, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willibald and Louisa; brothers, Ray and Sylvester Budig; sisters, Rose Budig, Hilda Rohlf, Evelyn Langer and Marie Budig; and son-in-law, Steven Simmons.
