Students, parents and Wadena-Deer Creek-Bluffton community members are encouraged to attend a presentation on how the new WDC School building could be a "green" learning environment. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8 in Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary Room 38.
Perkins+Will architect Steven Miller will be making the presentation. He brings more than 30 years of architectural practice, as well as experience with implementing green ideas into a school's building design.
Miller will explain how green schools cost less to operate, freeing up resources to improve students' education.
"Designing a school to allow abundant daylight into classrooms makes it easier and more comfortable for students to learn as well," said Miller. "Furthermore, it's been proven that clean indoor air cuts down sick days and gives children a better learning environment."
Across the United States, school districts large and small are realizing the benefits of green schools. That's why WDC Schools is anxious for Perkins+Will to share their knowledge with the school and community.
