A Henning man has been charged with several crimes after a report he was intoxicated and was leaving a Wadena business with a child.

Adam David Hobbs, 28, of Henning, is charged in Wadena County District Court with child endangerment, a gross misdemeanor; DWI 2nd degree, refuse to submit testing, a gross misdemeanor; DWI 2nd degree, operate vehicle under influence of alcohol, a gross misdemeanor; driving after cancellation of license, a misdemeanor; and child passenger restraint not properly used, a petty misdemeanor.

According to the Wadena Police Department, a citizen called authorities to report an intoxicated male with a child, who was leaving a local business and got into a vehicle in December. Officers responded and caught up to Hobbs just as he was driving away from his parked location. They found Hobbs not wearing his seatbelt and the child was not properly restrained, the police department reported. Officers believed Hobbs was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was transported to the Wadena County Jail for further testing. The child was released to family members.

Hobbs refused to submit to further testing and was then booked into the Wadena County Jail.
