Free babysitting clinic offered to 30 local kids

On Saturday, Oct. 22, Tri-County Health Care nursing and EMS staff trained 30 boys and girls at the babysitting class at Tri-County Health Care. Students' ages age 11 and older received training from Denise Peltier, RN, Anji Redfield, LPN, David Cuppy, AAS NREMT-P and Sharon Heinen, NREMT-P.

The clinic covered basic responsibilities on caring for infants and children, including diapering and feeding techniques, game ideas, tips for bedtime issues and how to have a safe experience. Students also learned how to perform first-aid, choose safe age-appropriate toys and how to handle emergencies that arise such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents. Students were also coached on how to interview for potential jobs and how they can be good role models.

Another babysitting class is being planned for the fall. Please watch your local newspapers or the Tri-County Health Care website for dates and times.
