Harold Richard Gilster, 61, of Nimrod died April 7, 2006, at Tri-County Hospital in Waena.

He was born June 8, 1944, at the Wesley Hospital in Wadena to Alfred and Evelyn (Nohrenberg) Gilster. He grew up on the family farm in Orton Township, rural Nimrod. He attended country school until the eighth grade and then attended Sebeka. He farmed on the Gilster family farm in Orton Township, rural Nimrod, his entire life. He was a member of the Orton Township Board for 18 years. He was a Farmers Union and NFO member. He was also a member of the Nimrod Lutheran Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Harold loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and help family and friends. On April 7, 2006 Harold passed away at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota.

His funeral was April 10 at the Nimrod Lutheran Church with the Rev. Raymond Hendrickson officiating. Casketbearers were Terry Gilster, Dean Gilster, Brant Ruhl, Jeremy Ruhl, Daryll Huwe and Todd Meech. Honorary casketbearers were all those who loved him. Burial was in the Nimrod Cemetery with Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of Nimrod; two daughters, Sarah (Matthew) Dosdall of Elk Point, S.D., and Cathy (fiance, Keith Myers) Warner of Thief River Falls; two sons, David (Karlene) Gilster of New York Mills and Daniel (Tammy) Gilster of Menahga; one sister, Doreen (Roland) Sycks of Backus; one brother, Larry (Nancy) Gilster of Nimrod; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
