Tracy Gustafson has been playing some great golf in 2008.
The former Wadena golf standout qualified for the national level after claiming medalist honors in the 2008 Minnesota College Athletic Conference and Region 13B tournaments held at The Legacy course near Brainerd.
Gustafson fired a two-day 178 to edge Hibbing's Jessica Sheldon by a single stroke for medalist honors. Gustafson also helped the Central Lakes College women's team advance to nationals with a two-day 757.
Gustafson and the Raiders will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III tournament May 18-21, 2009, at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Gustafson placed 36th in the Class A state tournament last spring for Wadena-Deer Creek with a two-day total of 185.

"She's a great kid, a leader and I miss her," said WDC girls' golf coach, Melissa Tabery.
Gustafson, who lives with her sister, Kayla, and works at The Legacy in addition to attending Central Lakes, credits Central Lakes coach Jim Russel with helping her improve her swing.
"I was really big with my swing so it wasn't consistent," Gustafson said. "He just told me to shorten up my swing."
Kayla, now 21, also qualified for the nationals as a freshman member of the Central Lakes team. The two girls learned the game from their father, Scott.
