Alicia Gorka had a hat trick and four-point game Saturday as the Long Prairie/Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek Blue Devils trounced Redwood Valley 12-3 in Long Prairie.
The victory gave the Blue Devils a regular season sweep over the Cardinals and broke a four-game slide by Jim Conrad's club. The 12-game was also the team's season high offensive performance. Their previous high was four.
Sam Holweger got her team rolling toward a five-goal first period with back-to-back goals at 14:57 and 10:31. Gorka scored her first goal at 8:22 for a 3-0 Blue Devil lead.
Halley Maas also came up with a two-goal game for the Blue Devils. Kicking in with solo goals were Katelyn Peters, Cassie Behl, Jessie Iken, Sam Killian and Kellie Casperson.
Brooke Umland collected a playmaker while Peters, Casperson and Leah Dykhoff all had two assists.

Sam Gorka stopped 13 shots in goal.
"This was a good game for the Blue Devils," Conrad said. "They started the scoring early and just kept going. The girls played hard and learned a lot from this game. It should be a good indication of what is to come for the rest of the season."
Hannah Leopold and Callie Hansen had two-point games for the Cardinals.
The Blue Devils will host Detroit Lakes tonight (Thursday) in a 7 p.m. game.

Cassandra Thelen stopped 26 shots last Tuesday as Park Rapids blanked Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek in a Mid-State Conference match.
Kaylyn Naeve and Hannah Williams both contributed one goal and one assist.
Conrad rated the setback as a tough loss for his players but saw improvement from his young club as the game progressed.

"Brooke Umland had some great defensive plays and Alicia Gorka played well coming back from injuries," Conrad said. "Sam Holweger set up some really good opportunities, especially on the power play."
