The Wadena Golden Gloves boxing program is a real asset to the boxers, the fans and the city.
Golden Gloves boxers learn discipline and skills they'll carry with them the rest of their lives. They are dedicated to practice and it shows. We're proud of the effort they've put in.
Fans have always gotten a good show from the Golden Gloves boxers, and that's why they keep coming back. People numbering in the hundreds pack the Wadena Armory to see some of the best action in the state -- or, more accurately, the entire region.
The city, of course, wins when boxing fans from all around come to Wadena to take in the matches, but also shop and eat here.
Bob Tubandt deserves a big pat on the back for his efforts over the years. He has been coach, promoter and friend to everyone in and out of the program.
