Gladys M. Dukich, 91, of Wadena, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Fair Oaks Lodge.
She was born Feb. 11, 1915, to George E. and Natalie (McNitt) Haynes in Rice Lake, Wis. She grew up in Taconite, Minn. In May 1940, she married Nick Dukich. Together, they owned and operated a grocery store in Calumet but lived in Pengilly. After the grocery stored closed she retired but Nick continued to work. Nick died in 1994. She enjoyed reading, collecting angels and working. She was a member of the Pengilly United Methodist Church and the Wadena United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Fair Oaks Lodge Chapel with the Rev. Larry Hager officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery near Coleraine with the Bielema Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A memorial service for Gladys will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in the spring. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly (Bert) Jeffery of Wadena; son, George E. Dukich of Sheridan, Wyo.; two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter; brother, Ronald Haynes of Hoyt Lakes; and sister, Eloise Anderson of Superior, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nine brothers and sisters.
