Funding is still available for available for households in Otter Tail and Wadena County for help with heating and electric costs. If households needing help have not already applied for help this heating season funds are still available to assist households in need that meet income guidelines. However applications need to be submitted as soon as possible as applications received after Jan. 13, 2012 may not receive help unless additional funding is released by the Department of Health and Human Services.
All types of heat are eligible for assistance. Assistance amounts are determined by the number of people that live in the home, the type of heat used, previous year's heating cost, and the income the household has received the three months prior to the date the application is signed.
