Wadena County Commissioners voted to approve the hiring of Ryan Damlo to serve as Transit Director for the Friendly Rider service in Wadena and Becker Counties, effective March 23.

County Engineer Ryan Odden told commissioners that the selection board for the Transit Director position interviewed three candidates on Feb. 23 and recommended that Damlo be hired.

Damlo has served as Asset Protection Manager at the Wadena Walmart since June 2011. Before that he worked at other Walmart locations for three additional years.

Damlo holds a bachelor's degree in management from St John's University, Collegeville. His new position as Transit Director is at Grade 56, Step 2. His annual salary of $52,852.80 will be paid jointly by Becker and Wadena Counties.

At the county board meeting on Oct. 21, 2014, commissioners unanimously approved a resolution supporting the merger of the Becker County and Wadena County transit systems and the hiring of a Transit Director, with each county paying half the cost of the position.
