City council members discussed open swim options for youth last Thursday, July 1. Open swim, along with transportation to and from the New York Mills pool, is being offered now.

Free open swimming will be offered to Wadena, Deer Creek and Bluffton youths at the New York Mills pool every Wednesday afternoon, as of July 7.

A Wadena-Deer Creek School bus will pick up kids at the WDC Elementary entrance at 1 p.m., the Deer Creek Community Center at 1:10 p.m. and the Bluffton Community Center at 1:20 p.m.

The bus will depart from the pool at 4:10 p.m., arriving in Bluffton at 4:20 p.m., and Deer Creek at 4:30 p.m. Concessions will be available so parents may send a small amount of money along with their child. Wadena Summer Rec supervisors will be chaperoning on the bus.

Due to the Wadena pool being damaged by the June 17 tornadoes, this free open swimming has been made possible thanks to donations from Farmers & Merchants State Bank of New York Mills, the community of New York Mills, Russ Davis of Wadena and Wadena-Deer Creek-Bluffton Community Education.
