Frazee man in critical condition after one-vehicle accident

A 39-year-old Frazee man who apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed 26 miles north of Wadena on U.S. Highway 71 Wednesday afternoon was in critical condition at a Fargo hospital Wednesday evening.

A 39-year-old Frazee man who apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed 26 miles north of Wadena on U.S. Highway 71 Wednesday afternoon was in critical condition at a Fargo hospital Wednesday evening.

Chad R. Brown was northbound in a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV when he crossed the southbound lane of traffic and struck a stand of pine trees. Six of the trees were snapped off by the force of the collision. The accident was reported at 3:21 p.m.

Brown was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph Health Care in Park Rapids. He was later airlifted to a health care facility in Fargo.

Brown was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. No alcohol was detected in his system.
