Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria) has announced her intention to seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2016.
Franson, representing Dist. 8B, which includes Otter Tail and Douglas counties, is the chair of the House Select Committee on Affordable Child Care and the vice chair of the House Agriculture Policy Committee.
"I'm proud to run on my conservative record," she said. "Over the past year, we've been able to pass pro-life and pro-Second Amendment legislation into law - in spite of the fact that the senate and governor's office are controlled by liberal democrats. I've also worked hard to advocate for our most vulnerable citizens including successfully leading the charge of stabilize nursing home funding so our parents and grandparents receive the care they deserve."
Franson, who is in her third term in the Minnesota House, received special recognition for her efforts last year as a Greater Minnesota legislator. For her work during the 2015 legislative session, Franson was given the "Legislator of Distinction" award from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities
Franson authored legislation to provide funding for the Greater Minnesota Business Development Infrastructure (BDPI) grant program. This program allocates dollars toward cities to help facilitate improvements to public infrastructure necessary for economic growth. The BDPI program received $4.2 million in funding.

"I look forward to running on my record of standing up for life, defending the Second Amendment, protecting our vulnerable citizens and advocating for our community over the wasteful desires of Minneapolis and St. Paul politicians," Franson said. "I represent the best people. I love my neighbors, and it's an honor to be the voice of our community in the legislature."
