The Class A fourth-ranked Frazee Hornets collected five pins in the middle and upper weights to get past the Wolverines 45-24 Dec. 18 in Frazee.
Wadena-Deer Creek got off to a good start when Jordan Rentz pinned Frazee's Tyler Ziegler at 112 and Derrick Rude's 8-5 decision over Jordan Kohler spotted the Wolverines a 9-3 lead.
Frazee claimed the next four weights to regain the lead for good as Rij Koehman got the Hornets going with his 3-0 decision over Jared Wegscheid at 125, followed by Issac Galbrecht's pin of Jacob Wegscheid at 130. Fifth-ranked Mike Lucero moved up two weights to gather a Wolverine forfeit at 135 and Hornet Kyle Janke edged Matt Hagen 2-1 at 140 for the 21-9 Frazee lead.
Wolverine Trey VanOrsdal, ranked ninth in 140, moved up to 145 and scored a 9-6 decision over Hornet Nick Brower.
The Hornets scored three consecutive pins to run their lead to 39-12 before Wolverine captain Tony Wegscheid returned the favor by pinning Frazee's Kody Lafrenier/Sorenson and WDC's Josh Sweere did likewise in his heavyweight pin over Jamie Holmer.

The Wolverines are idle until Jan. 3 when they host a triangular with Pelican Rapids and Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale starting at 5 p.m.
