Sister Evangeline Reuter died June 28, 2006, at Saint Scholastica Convent in St. Cloud.

She was born to Leo and Margaret (Langenfeld) Reuter on July 13, 1941, in Medicine Lake, Mont. She entered Saint Benedict's Monastery in 1960 and made her monastic profession on July 11, 1962. She graduated from Hastings High School and received a B.S. in nursing from the College of Saint Catherine. She also studied at the College of Saint Scholastica, Duluth; Weber State College, Ogden, Utah; the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University. She received an M.S. in community counseling from Saint Cloud State University. She was also a licensed psychologist. She served as a nurse at the St. Cloud Hospital; Saint Benedict's Monastery; at Saint Benedict's Hospital in Ogden, Utah; and at the Saint Cloud Veterans Hospital. She also served as residence director at the College of Saint Benedict and as a nurse counselor for K.I.D.S. House, a crisis intervention residence, in Becker, Minn. From 1993-2001, she was employed by Catholic Charities in Wadena to counsel individuals and families, and served as a board member of the Wadena Area Crisis Pregnancy Center. In December of 2001, due to failing health, she moved to Saint Scholastica Convent in St. Cloud.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict's Monastery, St. Joseph, Minn., for burial in the monastery cemetery.

She is survived by her Benedictine community; three sisters (Sister Mary, OSB, St. Joseph, Minn.; Rosalie Klimisch of Northfield, Minn.; and Sylvia Sultenfuss of Atlanta, Ga.) and four brothers (Roger of Thief River Falls, Minn.; Lawrence of Marietta, Ga.; Charles of Neenah, Wis.; Douglas of Lorimer, Iowa).

She was preceded in death by a brother, James.
