Erma Vera White, 91, of Verndale, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples.

She was born Sept. 1, 1917, to James E. and Margaret M. (Rappensparger) Crabtree in Tenstrike, Minn. She attended Quiring School in Beltrami County. She married Leonard E. White on Oct. 4, 1941, in Wadena. She had been at Baudora Nursery. She served as a member of the Women's Prayer Fellowship of the Verndale Alliance Church and the Hope Chapel Alliance Church. As a homemaker her hobbies and interests included gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, rug-making, candy-making and baking. She will be remembered as a loving Christian mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Verndale with the Rev. Daryl Jacobson and Brian Harris officiating. Interment was in the Wing River Union Cemetery in rural Bluegrass. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Edwin White, Roger White, Leroy Line, Bradley Line, Daniel White, Jayson Steinkopf, Michael Steinkopf and Leonard Steinkopf. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).

Survivors include her sons, Charles (Donna) of Verndale, Gene (Linda) of Sebeka, and William (Connie) of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Inez (Kermit) Line, and Ruth (Randy) Steinkopf, both of Verndale; son-in-law, David Steinkopf of Champlin, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard White, in May 1995; her parents, James and Margaret Crabtree; daughter, Eva Steinkopf; brother, Everet Crabtree; and sisters, Martha TenEyck, Della Butts, and Eva Coe.
