Applications are being accepted for the Energy Assistance Program for the 2008-09 heating season. This includes the Emergency Benefit/Crisis portion of the program. Benefits are also available for homeowners experiencing problems with your furnace or heating system. All heat types are eligible. Applicants listing wood as the main heat source will have their grants sent to a supplementary heating source, if applicable, or the electric company.

Most payments for natural gas and electricity will be paid in four equal monthly installments. For example, if your grant is $400, your energy company will receive four monthly payments of $100 each. Delivered fuel vendors will receive a lump sum payment.

Those wishing to apply for Energy Assistance must provide proof of the last three month's income. Self-employed people must provide the most recent tax return. Income guidelines are listed below:
