Emma Guse, 89, of Henning, died on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Henning Golden Living Center.

Emma Ella Guse was born in Leaf Lake Township, Otter Tail County, on Sept. 14, 1919, the daughter of Gustav and Bertha (Janke) Guse. She was baptized in St. John's Lutheran Church at Ottertail on Oct. 12, 1919, and reaffirmed her faith on June 10, 1934 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning when she was confirmed. Following her education at Henning Public School, she was employed as a cook at the Baglo Cafe in Henning. She also worked at Woodland Park and at a motel in Seattle. During her life she cared for elderly couples in their homes and then decided to care exclusively for her parents and her brother on the family farm until their deaths. She continued to live on the family farm through the fall of 2001 and then made the move to her home in Henning where she resided until her death. She was a caring and loving individual who enjoyed baking and cooking for the many relatives and friends who would stop by, especially enjoying the visits and coffee time spent with her loyal egg customers, whom she served so well over the years. She thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, and visiting with her friends and relatives.

She was active in St. Paul's Ladies Aid and SPWF for many years and, aside from tending to her vegetable garden, Emma's pride and joy was caring for her beautiful flower gardens, both on the farm and at her home in town.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning with the Rev. Karl Weber officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Kaleb Thalmann, Kolby Thalmann, Tyler Reese, Nicholas Rudolph and Jared Rudolph.
