Edward Herbert Shinabarger, 80, of Staples, passed away Nov. 10, 2007, at Lakewood Systems Care Center in Staples.
He was born on May 30, 1927, in Coleraine, Minn., to Wallace and Mary (Nix) Shinabarger. He served his country in the Navy at the end of World War II. He married Beverly Eileen Carry on Oct. 12, 1947, at the Church of Christ in Filbrook. They bought a farm south of Staples where they lived for 37 years. He worked for Viking Gas Transmission Company for 21 years, retiring in 1988. In 2000, they sold their country home and moved into Staples.
He was a gentle man, who loved his Creator and the creation. He was active with his family at the Wadena Jehovah Witness congregation. He enjoyed oil painting and spending time outdoors feeding deer and watching birds. As a naturalist, he cared for all of God's creatures. Memorial services were held Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Wadena. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home of Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beverly; sisters-in-law, Viola Comeaux of Jennings, La., and Sylvia Collier of Foxborough, Mass.; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Mary Shinabarger; and his sister, Mabel Etter.
