WDC held its second annual "Doughnuts with Dads" event where kindergarteners got a chance to show their dads school projects, sing songs and play games.

If dads were unable to attend, grandpas, uncles and father figures were there to fill in. Kindergarten teachers Angie Moats' and Alyssa Morlock's dads showed up to be with their daughters too, much to the surprise and delight of their students. Doughnuts with Dad was also held in Mandy Gallant's and Shelley Steffens' classrooms.

Kindergartner Katrina Waln grinned from ear to ear when her dad, TJ, read a write-up she did on him. "Yep, I do like to fish," he said while she giggled with approval. Waln said he enjoyed today's event and appreciated the time set aside just for dads.

Kindergarten teacher Angie Moats said Doughnuts with Dad is an event students really look forward to.

"It's kind of like Christmas. You plan and prepare and when the time comes, it goes so fast and is over in the blink of an eye," Moats said, adding, "We really are blessed with some amazing dads and grandpas."

Kindergarten teacher Alyssa Morlock said all of the kindergarten teachers were impressed with how many dads, uncles and grandpas took the time to come share a doughnut with their favorite kindergartners.

"It is always so wonderful to see families support their students by attending special school activities such as Doughnuts with Dads," Morlock said.

WDC's Kindergarten classes hold a similar event in the spring just for moms called "Muffins with Mom" on Friday, May 6.
