Dorothy Henrietta Leibold passed away on July 23, 2006.
She was born July 26, 1916, to John and Bertha (Bach) Johnson at Mahnomen, Minn., where she attended school and graduated. She lived there until the late 1930s, working as a housekeeper in people's homes. She then moved to the Bertha area with her family to help them farm. On March 26, 1946, she married Earl George Leibold at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha, shortly after Earl returned from the war. After they were married, she did not work outside of their home. She was very active in her community as a member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid, Women's Club, Homemaker's Club and Legion Auxiliary. She attended two Bible classes and taught Sunday school for years. She was very active in the church. She enjoyed sharing her faith and also liked gardening and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family. After spending a month in the Henning Nursing Home, Dorothy moved into the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena in January of 2006. She passed away just three days before her 90th birthday.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 28, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha with Rev. Blake Rickbeil presiding. She will be interred at the Peace Evangelical Cemetery at Bertha.
Survivors include her daughter, Janine; grandchildren, Eric, Laura, Brian and Andrew; sisters, Inez, Betty and Janice; and brother, George.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Earl, in 1970; parents, John and Bertha Johnson; daughter, Karen, in 1994; an infant sister, and sisters Ina, Alva, Luella, Milly, Justine, and Clarice; and brother, John.
