Dorothy Jean Grewe, 86, passed away Jan. 5, 2009, at her home in Deer Creek Township.

She was born Oct. 24, 1922, to Fred and Alma (Gossell) Holm in Fort Collins, Colo. She married Helmer Grewe on Sept. 5, 1942, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township. For many years she was active in the Women's Missionary League, Garden Club and Senior Center. She was a Sunday school teacher and will also be remembered as an employee at the Security State Bank in Deer Creek for 33 years. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, sports, watching her youngest son's basketball teams, activities at the Senior Center, playing cards, and especially enjoyed her family time.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek with the Rev. Gunard Heikkila officiating. Interment was in the Wadena Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Kyle Boe, Trent Boe, Ryan Hagen, Jason Hagen, Patrick Grewe, Jacob Grewe, Lisa Lange and Emily Mueller. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).

Survivors include her husband, Helmer; sons, Terry (Brenda) Grewe of Fort Worth, Texas and Garry (Tina) Grewe of Pequot Lakes; daughters, Carol Boe of Casper, Wyo., and Linda (Robert) Hagen of Prior Lake; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Sharon) Holm of Alexandria; sisters, Marjorie Rach of Verndale, and Gladys Lorntson of Silver Bay; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Alma Holm; her stepfather, Harold Sommars; son-in-law Charles Boe; and brothers-in-law, Delbert Rach and James Lorntson.
