Donald Boyd Blaha, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday morning, June 25, 2007.

He was born to Frank and Ethel (Boyd) Blaha on June 10, 1913, on the family farm in Thomastown Township. He lived on the family farm until the age of 6. His family moved to Staples for 14 years before returning to the farm where he spent the rest of his life as a dairy and beef farmer. He was active in the Central United Methodist Church and was instrumental in organizing the Central Methodist Men's Club. He was a 4-H leader, rural school board member for many years and was a charter member of the River Trail Riders saddle club. He was a board member of Todd Wadena Rural Electric Co-op for 27 years, serving 19 years as board president. He was the local walking history book and enjoyed being a part of the Verndale and Wadena Historical Societies. He has spent his lifetime in this area. He enjoyed horses and fishing and he very much enjoyed time spent with family and friends.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 29 in the Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jill Pawlowski officiating. Johnson Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine on Dec. 6, 1996; and his son, Gordon.

Survivors include his sons, Barry (Liz) of Menahga, and Frank (Jackie) of Sebeka; daughters, Carla of Verndale and Jill (Floyd) Scudder of Verndale; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
